Trombone Ensemble Fundraiser The
UofI Jazz Trombone Ensemble needs YOUR help!! We are in need of some $$ to help get our group of 10 students to
Paris this coming July for a prestigious performance at the International Trombone Festival! The Jazz Trombone Ensemble
won BOTH the ETW Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition and the Kai Winding Jazz Trombone Ensemble competition. Both prizes
are feature performances at the festivals. The U of I graciously funded our trip to Washington DC this past March for
our performance at the ETW. But now we are looking for donors/sponsors for our trip to Paris from July 3 - 8th, 2012.
We have already raised well over $14K and are in need of another $7K. Any donations should be by check and made out to the University of Illinois.
On the check, note “For Jazz Trombone Ensemble Paris Trip”. The donations will be marked for this purpose
and this purpose only and all moneys will go through the University Foundation so this will be fully tax deductible to you.
There are envelopes already addressed to me at the University for your convenience – otherwise, you can mail directly
to the School of Music at: 1114 West Nevada Street, Urbana, IL 61801. Be sure to include your name and address (for
any tax documents) and that the donation is for the “Jazz Trombone Ensemble”. As a thank you, we’re offering reprints of the News Gazette photograph (by Darrell Hoemann)
autographed by the members of the Jazz Trombone Ensemble for donations of $100 or more . If you feel comfortable donating
$200 or more, we will additionally include a copy of the U of I Jazz Trombone Ensemble “LIVE” CD. Thank you for your support, and again, here is the mailing info: Make all checks payable to the University of

2012 And yes, I'm the current cover model of the ITA Journal. The
article contains excerpts from a book called, Bonanza by Julie Gendrich -- a wonderful writer and good friend. It came
as quite a surprise but it's an honour to be on the cover. January 2012 Congratulations to the UIUC Jazz Trombone Ensemble for winning
the Eastern Trombone Workshop's National Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition! Congratulations
also goes to Josh Torrey for making it as a finalist in the ETW's National Solo Jazz Competition. Look for
us at the 2012 ETW in Fort Myer, VA, March 21-24!! UIUC: Are you interested in the jazz trombone studio at the UofI? There are lots of playing opportunities at the school such as the Jazz Trombone Ensemble, the Concert Jazz Band, several
jazz combos, Latin Bands and even gigging at local clubs! If you're in the Champaign-Urbana area or even the Chicago area (we're a 2 1/2 hour drive south or a 30 minute plane
ride!!), don't hesitate to drop by Smith Hall to say hi, wander the halls, talk to other students, check out a rehearsal or
